Eric van der Westen & Aron Raams - A Traveller's tale

Three or four times a year i organize a jazz-concert myself. Next sunday, nov. 24, there's another one, although this is not jazz! It's a unique project by Holland's best bass-player Eric van der Westen and fantastic guitarist Aron Raams. Off course, you are all invited, but i don't expect many of you to see there....Perhaps you can listen to the album to decide whether i made the right choice to book these musicians....(see the announcement-poster i made)

Beautiful instrumental acoustic duo of Double Bass and Guitar. A mix of Folk, Country, Blues, Rock and Jazz. Influenced by Johnny Cash, J.J. Cale, Bill Frisell, Tom Waits, Pat Metheny, Rufus Wainright, Miles Davis, John Mayer.....a.m.m.
There's a Facebook Page called A Traveller's Tale (http://www.facebook.com/ATravellersTale) , linked to both Aron Raams and Eric van der Westen's Facebook page on which the public can hear new musical ideas and send in photos concerning the new material being worked on at the moment. If chosen the people whose pictures are being used for the album will receive a free copy.

The Music
A Traveller’s Tale is a series of acoustic songs written and composed by Eric van der Westen and Aron Raams. Together they recorded 14 short instrumental stories. The inspiration for the album comes from J.J Cale, Tom Waits and Johnny Cash. The melancholic melodies on the album offer enough room for imagination and memory.
The People
Together with photographer Mark van Vugt, designer Susan van Mourik and social media specialist Jules Kersten the idea raised to combine the music with a fictive person called Alvin Staight. Alvin was born in Gold Hill, Colorado in 1952 as a carpenter’s son. After some big disappointments, Alvin decides to choose the life of a Traveler. He hits the road…
Your Roll
Together with you we want to shape the life of Alvin. We collect photos, memories, attributes and train tickets of you as a traveler. It is supposed to send in these items via Facebook. After all we select the best entries to use on the album artwork.
