Cream - Fresh Cream

It appears that my nostalgic, early blues-rock posts are more popular than most of my others - So I will continue to select more of these classics, that supplied the soundtrack to my teenage and later years...
'Fresh Cream' was Cream's first album, released in the UK in December 1966 - By then, I was already an Eric Clapton fanatic (mostly due to the one great album he made with John Mayall earlier that year)  and ALL my mates had a copy of both LPs.
Long hair, trench coats and 24" bellbottoms - some wacky backy and put this album on the stereo !
It was THE album at the time.
Released in the USA in January 1967 with 'Spoonful' removed in favour of 'I Feel Free' ( which was their 2nd single in the UK  and did not appear on the original album ). This CD version contains the original vinyl UK release - tracks 2 to 11 - the first 2 singles - tracks 1 and 13 and 'The Coffee Song' a previously unreleased bonus cut.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see them live in their early days - they spent most of their existence touring the USA - but I did get to see them at the RAH on 26 November 1968 for their last Goodbye concert with Rory Gallagher (Taste) and Yes supplying support... Great evening !  Enjoy

Tracks : 1-I Feel Free 2-NSU 3-Sleepy Time Time 4-Dreaming 5-Sweet Wine 6-Spoonful 7-Cat's Squirrel 8-Four Until Late 9-Rollin' And Tumblin' 10-I'm So Glad 11-Toad 12-The Coffee Song 13-Wrapping Paper

Ginger Baker:drums/vocals, Jack Bruce:bass,harmonica,vocals, Eric Clapton: guitar,vocals.

Comments would help guide me to my next posts! Do you want some more of this classic stuff ? I have loads !

Definitely keep the classics coming. This remains my favorite Cream album for its rawness and its version of Skip James' "I'm So Glad" but every song on the album was fantastic and so new to my ears when I first heard it. I can't recall anyone or any group coming close to what Cream was doing in the mid-60s. They were the first and, to me, remain the greatest super group.. My younger brother bought me the DVD of the reunion concert for Christmas and I took me back to that time when I was not even a teenager and was just discovering rock.

Yeah FOB - I loved the Beatles - Stones - Who etc but Cream were my heroes and were the catalyst for me taking up the guitar - Clapton was at the top of the tree - I know some of his later solo outings can be a bit bland - so younger listeners have no idea of his high standing in the late 60's early 70's, when you'd see the graffiti 'Clapton is God' numerous times

A true rock classic, which I haven't heard for ages - keep 'em coming Gus!

One of my enduring memories is the sound of Clapton's guitar, it seem to be flying in the very air above Hyde Park - Blind Faith summer 1969(?)
